COMELEC employees has its own pick for Poll Commissioner posts
The rank and file employees of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) led by the Alliance of COMELEC Employees in Service (ACES) today expressed support for three COMELEC insiders for the position of poll Commissioner.
The ACES said they will be rooting for COMELEC Personnel Director Adolfo Ibañez, Law Department Director Ferdinand Rafanan, and COMELEC Regional Election Director (Region 5) Zacarias Zaragoza.
Next month, two (2) COMELEC Commissioner posts will be vacant with the retirement of Commissioners Nicodemo Ferrer and Gregorio Larrazabal.
“The rank and file employees of the COMELEC supports their bid for the Commissioner post because we believe they know by heart not only the inner workings of the Commission but, more importantly, the needs and concerns of the COMELEC personnel nationwide,” said Luallah Pama, ACES President.
The group said Rafanan is known for his integrity and probity as exemplified during his role as Chairman of the COMELEC Bids and Awards Committee for the 2010 Automation Project while Ibañez is recognized as an excellent manager and administrator considering his vast experience as Regional Election Director and then as head of the poll body’s Personnel Department in charge of more than 6,000 COMELEC employees nationwide.
Meanwhile, Zaragoza, according to the ACES, would be an excellent choice for COMELEC Commissioner because he will be bringing in the COMELEC en banc the concerns of poll workers in the field. The ACES, particularly hailed Zaragoza for leading the recent construction of the COMELEC Regional Office Building in the Bicol Region. This, the group said, is the first poll regional office in the country to have its own building.
“While we are aware that the final choice for the COMELEC Commissioner posts rests on the President, we urge him to consider our pick for this very important position,” Pama said. –end-
